PictureBioluminescence by Stephen Stum & Jason Hallman of Stallman Studio
I am in utter and complete awe of artist duo Stephen Stum & Jason Hallman of Stallman Studio and the stunning work that they create using strips of painted canvas. They call these works "sculpted canvas and acrylic paint on panel" and the color and the shapes seem to wrap the viewer in color and mesmerizing shapes. Simply brilliant!

They have a studio up in beautiful Langley Washington, which seems appropriate for a constant source of inspiration. I cannot wait to take a day trip up to visit their work in person! They sell and show their work all over the world.

I also couldn't wait to share the ethereal and glowing encaustic paintings by one of my new favorite artists, Leslie Stoner.  If you get a chance to see her work in person, go right away.

I am hopefully not presuming too much to say that Leslie is part of this new Seattle artist community that I am starting to become a part of.  I feel so blessed to be finally making friends, even if only online on facebook for now.

Already Leslie has been a fount of information about paint color mixing, pigments and panels! I am so grateful to have stumbled onto her work and community.

My friend crazy talented artist friend Sam LeRugatel and I talk often about wanting to try to build out a little community of Seattle-based artists and it feels great to slowly but surely be meeting more artists to share ideas, tips, and to potentially show, with.  In all honesty, I suppose I have to admit that there is also great comfort in having a community commiserate with on the hurdles and perils of working as an artist.

All of my life, from my earliest memories as I child, I have felt as though I view the world through some sort of magical frame. To this day I carry that feeling, as though I can look anywhere and see beauty, see nature and objects sparking. Even in a garbage-strewn alley, I can see the poetry of the place, as a breathing image right there on the lenses of my eyes.
