This amazing tree is the current inspiration for my next piece. I find myself, as ever, mesmerized by the seasonal manifestations of nature. Trees in Winter is the series I have going in my mind...stark and bare, these winter trees stand majestic in their stripped down beauty. Of course lovely covered in colorful flowers or leaves, trees become kind of a kind of slinky and lacy beauty in their bareness. I've been taking pics all over Seattle, the gray background and stunning sunset skies make such perfect backdrops for these dark sexy beings.

Wow! Now this is human planned miraculous natural beauty! Aerial photos have always been an inspiration to me, and I've got pages of notes for planned pieces, but I just had to share this one! Such a gorgeous photo of such a gorgeous landscape.

Okay, this isn't obviously Nature inspired other than the natural beauty of geometry and infinity, light, space, color, illusion, but it is part of today's inspiration story nonetheless.

As an artist, I am constantly scanning the world, my immediate world, and the photographed world beyond.  I have literally thousands of photographs of my own that I collect for inspiration. I refer to my photo albums constantly and am overjoyed by the advent of Facebook pages like thisiscolossal.com's

Another big favorite of mine for inspiration is also on Facebook, I Fucking Love Science, shares stunning photographs and information of science's most stunning moments in biology, geology, chemistry, astronomy, physics, maths, and so on. These all serve as a foundation of my notes for future works based on images of nature -- it's a life's work.

All of my life, from my earliest memories as I child, I have felt as though I view the world through some sort of magical frame. To this day I carry that feeling, as though I can look anywhere and see beauty, see nature and objects sparking. Even in a garbage-strewn alley, I can see the poetry of the place, as a breathing image right there on the lenses of my eyes.
